It’s been about ten years since Amen and I recorded our first song, “The Menace”. This is the song that would spark long-time collaboration and friendship, and jump start our music careers [side note: the single also made it to #2 on the CMJ college hip-hop charts]. If you happen to have been following us/me since back in the day then you know we released several projects together and had an uncanny chemistry when it came to our music.
Well, here we are in 2013 – ten years later. It’s been five to six years since I made anything resembling production that anyone could rap on, and almost the same amount of time since A has blessed a beat with his rhymes. Life goes on for us both, but it was good to catch up with A for a while at one of my events in Chapel Hill recently.
Cheers to the good times. I’ve embedded on of our songs from A’s project with DJ Hyphen, Legend Killer, called “So Tired” [explicit]. This song meant a lot at the time, but years later the lyrics still hit hard to me.
