There’s been a few joints that I’ve had on repeat lately, that I wanna share with anyone that happens to read this/care at all. I’ll try to do this often, and I’ll try to put up a variety of stuff.
First off is “Diamonds On My Neck” by Smitty. You’re probably thinking that this guy is just another southern rapper being materialistic, and he’ll be gone tomorrow. I don’t think so though, Smitty has actually been responsible for writing quite a few of Diddy’s hits, so I think he’s pretty much already established himself. You’ll notice the Biggie line in the hook, thanks to Swizz Beatz. That’s becoming his style, and it seems to make hits (Bring Em Out, Hussla, etc.)
Next up is “Carolina Agents” by Little Brother. These guys are the hometown heroes, and they’re doing big things right about now. This particular track was made for the NBA 2k6 soundtrack. Yeah, their shit is in a videogame, that’s crazy right? Anyway, I love this track because it’s a bit more upbeat and lively than their usual offerings. Get it up, get a cup, get a drink in…
For all you Ghostface fans, here’s a new one called “Kilos” which features Raekwon. I can’t lie, I love this mainly for the beat. This was produced by Moss who comes from Toronto. He basically took a children’s record about measurements and stuff, and flipped it into this. “all around the world a kilo is a measuuure”. Quite Infectious. Sorry about Kay Slay on it, I don’t have a DJ-Free version.
“where’s your money?” by Busta Rhymes and ODB seems to get the heads to noddin’ when I play it at shows. The beat is crazy on this one too. These dudes should have made an entire album. R.I.P. to ODB. Look for Busta’s album to come soon.
Jay Dee is working on a new album called Donuts. Here’s a joint I found that I believe is going to be on that album. “we must be in love” features Pharoahe Monch, but not really rapping. He’s singing on this joint, and I’m not really mad at that, sometimes you don’t feel like being hard. This is a real feel good song. Sorry about the quality, it’s some bootleg shit
