Been back from my trip to cali with Kam for a few days now, but I’ve been super busy and haven’t had a chance to make this post. I have tons of video to edit so there will be a couple of video recaps in the near future (if i ever have time to edit it!). Here’s the bulk of my photos that I uploaded to flickr (make sure to use the next page function, or alternatively click here to go straight to flickr) but hit the jump for a breakdown and walkthrough of the trip! I want to extend a huge thanks first of all to Kam for the invite, but also to the crew we ran with when out in SF/LA :: Karim / Kelay / Rome / Ev / Jern / Charles /Nate (can somebody please link his twitter page for me?!?)
The homie Dan Johns has just released a new EP in collaboration with 2dopeboyz . It’s a free download, so make sure to check it out! If you like what you hear, make sure to check my past collaboration mixtape with Dan here
Dan is a guy who I will always support and ride for, so please check the EP and give it a good listen
This is the new offical video for Simba, which is the first single off J. Cole’s forthcoming mixtape The Warmup. This dude is doin BIG THINGS (signed to Roc Nation) and hails from Fayetteville, NC. Make sure you check his site for all the updates
I neglected to announce the creation of new blog Gold Standard which features new music from Amen en route to his release of the Gold Standard album with producer Johnny Drama. Or, if you want the official description “This blog will contain the music, video, and scattered thoughts of Amen, Johnny Drama, and others. It will chronicle their time and effort in creating the most mediocre album in the history of rap music – The Gold Standard.”
If you check the blog you’ll see some newly leaked tracks, the latest of which I produced, Nature Boy. I did this beat about two years ago, and the final joint was recorded a few months ago.
The latest track from Head On (right around the corner) is courtesy of quintessential producer – DJ Forge. This track is called Nature Boy, for the obvious reason – that Amen and Drama are truly obsessed with wrestling.
L.E.G.A.C.Y.’s new album, Suicide Music, drops next month (June 16th to be exact). He’s on a strong promo run in the month leading to the release, so he contacted me and DJ Paradime to do mixtape to help the promo. This is a quick one (30 mins) for those with short attention spans! You may have already seen this floating around twitter, but this one includes the correct track order and id3 tags. Enjoy!

I’ve been a fan of this dude pretty much since I heard Cassie’s single “Me and U”. The production sounded so much different than the rest of the r&b out at the time. He’s been steady releasing music of his own, and continuously producing for other singers and rappers along the way. I’m a huge fan of his production style, and especially his “behind the scenes” videos to go along with them from his site. He recently debuted a self-titled album which didn’t leave my cd deck for at least a week after I bought it.
I’ve been meaning to throw this tape together for a while now, but just finally got around to it. I think it serves as a good introduction to the vibe that Ryan Leslie represents with not only his own music, but the music he makes for others. His catalog goes much deeper than this, and he has a growing discography of rap tracks, but I wanted to save those for a second tape.
I am making physical copies within the week so if you want one shoot me an email from the contact page and we’ll work it out. Please lemme know what you think in the comments!
Drake is blowing up as we speak, and this is probably the most popular song from his mixtape, So Far Gone, so I made a quick intro edit for it (big up to mensa for the instrumentals).
New video from pooh! Make sure you grab his brand new album “delightful bars” on itunes. I listened to and from Miami, it’s a real solid project all the way around.
